ABOUT HUSHY

The vision of HUSHY has been something that has been brewing for a long time as our community keeps growing. Through many conversations at gatherings events, bereavement fundraisings, and even birthdays, the discussions have always been centered on creating a self-help organization that reaches the growing community to offer a unified approach to handling the ever-increasing bereavement costs. To borrow a leaf from our background, the Harambee spirit has been part of us from as far back as our grassroots, and therefore HUSHY was conceived.

As Kenyans in the USA either as immigrants, by marriage or by birth, we are eternally connected to our country and linked to each other through the basis of our communal upbringing. It’s therefore because of this linkage and community affiliation that we are always united in times of grief and times of happiness. Help Us Help You (Hushy), therefore, is a voluntary benevolent group of friends unified to assist our bona fide members (registered and paid up) during the difficult times of bereavement. The purpose of the group is to ease the financial burden that may face a member during such a difficult time. We are not a tribal organization and any Kenyan in the USA is allowed to join as long as they meet their membership obligations and remain in good standing.
